The best parties I have had to date have been sleepovers. Pizza, movie, popcorn and pancakes in the morning! Or the outsourced kind, bowling or the movies. Easy peasy! You are right though, ball games at a park and pizza is perfect!
Not sure you need any advice, you do great on your own!
You are right about the cake thing too.
I actually love doing the cake, but for some reason I always leave it til last and then the pressure mounts and something usually goes wrong whether it be in the baking or the putting together.
If I have learnt anything, you should do the cake the day before. It always takes longer than you think to decorate and not a great idea on party day!
As for games, I’m not opposed to them at all. Although at Crumble #3′s last party, the weather was fine so the children spent most of the time outdoors on the tramp and rope swing even though I was geared up to do party games. I think if you have crappy weather it’s a must-do!
I think, preparation prior is key, get all the food sorted if you can during the week (dependent of course what you have planned) and make sure the kitchen is spotless and dishwasher empty ready for the onslaught of dishes!

Maybe just take them to a park with a ball, and order pizzas.
The cake thing, actually my answer to that is to not have any cake books in the house. What they don’t know about, they can’t ask for.
But if you do have the party at your house, how do you reduce the stress and prep around the games? Just no games? I don’t know – any ideas, please enlighten us!! You have from now till September, when our party season starts!
